How a dog gets crowned
The unofficial official Face of the Breed. Settled weekly by the people who live with them. Here is exactly how the voting works — no judges, no registry, and no way to buy a crown.
The three contests
🗳️ Breed of the Day — daily
Play three rounds in the Brachys app and the fourth unlocks as a voting round: fill the ballot pen with a breed, and that is your vote. The winning breed takes over the next day's spotlight. One vote per player per day. See the results →
👑 Face of the Breed — weekly
Owners post a photo; that week's entrants compete in a head-to-head bracket, one round a day. Sunday decides the final, and the champion headlines the breed page and joins the history wall permanently.
🏆 Champion of Champions — monthly
The month's weekly champions meet in one last bracket. Twelve winners a year. This is the crown the dynasties chase. The hall →
Why the votes are honest
- You play to vote. Voting requires three play-days that week. A link shared to a thousand strangers earns zero votes unless those strangers become players.
- Every entrant gets a fair draw. Brackets are seeded randomly — never by follower counts or past wins — and round one guarantees every dog a head-to-head showcase.
- Champions rest. A week on the throne, then a week off before re-entry, so the crown keeps circulating.
- Money can't touch it. No paid votes, no paid entries, no cash prizes. The things worth winning on Brachys cannot be bought at any price.
- Photos are reviewed. Every public photo passes a content review before it renders, owners attest the dog and photo are theirs, and anyone can report or block. The guidelines →
Questions people ask
Who can vote on Brachys?
Only people who actually play. Voting unlocks after three play-days in a week — so every vote comes from a member of the community, not a drive-by link. Campaigning for your dog works, but your supporters have to join and play first.
How is the Face of the Breed decided?
Every week, dogs whose owners posted a photo that week compete head-to-head in a bracket — one round a day, Monday through Saturday, with the final and the crown on Sunday. Matchups are seeded randomly so a newcomer always has a real shot.
Is this an official breed standard?
No — and on purpose. Brachys is the unofficial official Face of the Breed: no judges, no registry, no pedigree requirements. It is settled weekly by the people who live with these dogs, one vote at a time.
Can the same dog win every week?
No. A champion holds the throne for a week, then rests a week before becoming eligible again. Repeat champions earn permanent bragging rights on their profile instead of permanent occupancy of the crown.
What do winners get?
Glory, permanently. The weekly champion headlines the breed's page, earns a permanent entry on the breed's history wall with a photo gallery, and a trophy on their profile. Prizes are never cash and votes can never be bought.
What is Champion of Champions?
Each month, that month's weekly champions face off in one final bracket. Twelve a year, each with a permanent page. It is the hardest crown on Brachys to win.
